| Baltimore Sea Safari offers a variety of boat trips ranging from a 15 mins thrill trip around the harbour to a 2-hour full sea safari experience. During each trip full commentary is provided on sights, features and history of the area. Whilst on a trip, the skipper keeps in contact with other boats in the area for reported sightings of dolphins and whales to increase the chances of our passengers seeing such wildlife. Even when sightings of wildlife are scarce we have some of the most spectacular coastline in West Cork to explore.
** New for 2010 - onboard hydrophone - listen to the sounds of the ocean during your boat trip! **
Sea Safari Boat Trip
This is a 2-hour thrilling, fun-packed sightseeing tour of the West Cork coastline including Cape Clear and see the world famous Fastnet Lighthouse. Enjoy close-up views of the many beautiful islands, sheer cliffs, lighthouses, signal towers, beacons, castles, golden beaches, secluded bays and inlets, and the tranquil coastal villages. Visit local seal colonies which inhabit the shorelines. Porpoise and dolphin are regularly seen as they swim and play in the boat's wake. Keep a look out for whales, basking shark and sunfish which can often be seen off our coastline. A big hit with our passengers is when we pull up alongside local lobster fishing boats and watch them as they haul and bait their pots. If you're lucky you might get the chance to get your photograph taken with a live lobster, brown crab or even a dogfish!

Sherkin & Kedge Islands Boat Trip This trip takes you on a high-speed circumnavigation of the historic Sherkin Island, with its 14th Century Fort and a Friary built in 1460. See its high, crumbling cliffs and clean golden beaches as we head for the Gascanane Sound. Here we stop for a moment whilst the skipper regails you with fantastic tales of shipwrecks and historic facts about these infamous waters. Passing the entrance to Baltimore Harbour, heading East towards Kedge Island, look high onto the cliff tops to see the 18th Century Signal Tower and the word EIRE written in large white stones - which were built during World War II to alert stray bombers that they were passing over the Irish Coastline. Keep an eye open for Dolphin and Seals, often seen in these parts, whilst you return to Baltimore entering the harbour which is watched over by Lots' Wife (better known as the Baltimore Beacon).
